What are the benefits of becoming a Doug’s Diner Licensee, rather than opening my own concept?
There are many benefits to joining the Doug’s Diner team. When you become licensee, you pay for the brand name and our proven concept of over 10 years. We have spent years mastering our processes for everything from overall operations to training. We also will share with new licensees, our insight on what has made Doug’s Diner successful throughout the development process. Brand recognition and a support system from the corporate offices will contribute to the value of becoming a licensee.
Can I develop a territory anywhere I want?
No, at this time we are looking for Licensees to become a Doug’s Diner Operator to develop your individual store first. Colorado is the region we are dedicating to growing with experienced Licensees. Success in your first store will be a pre-requisite. If you choose to expand beyond one store and develop an area, we will discuss our development plans and goals with you. If everyone is in agreement we will provide you with a written first right of refusal for additional locations.
Do you provide training?
Yes, we will train you in an existing Doug’s Diner restaurant, so that you can get real experience from real situations as you are learning the Doug’s Diner processes. You will receive a manager training manual to review and you will work every position. You will not be charged additional dollars for training, however you will be responsible for your own travel and living arrangements during the training period. Doug’s Diner will provide someone with training experience to visit your restaurant for two weeks to help guide you through the opening process.
Can I add to the menu for local tastes and food?
Our trademarked dishes are already a proven local favorite for the chosen region and need to remain on the menu. However, we are receptive for you to add items that you feel are beneficial to your unique local market. Menu design and specials can be changed subject to licensor approval.
Are there any requirements regarding vendors, décor , etc.?
As a Licensee you are required to purchase specified products and to purchase from prior approved specific vendors. A particular décor is not mandated, however it is recommended that you consider a theme that our customers will recognize as the Doug’s Diner brand and menu. We will provide all of the contact information for our approved vendors. This is important to maintain the consistency of product quality that our customers have come to expect. You will have the ability to use other outside approved vendors for your allowed unique menu items to your location.
